Fall Back

Daylight Saving Time 2011: Why and When Does It Begin?

Fall pries back the numerals
Of the ancient clock,
Gnarled knuckles wrestling away minutes
Until withered hands become smooth

Autumn whispers with fallen leaves, crackling under foot
Spring riots with toddlers in brightly colored costume

One stolen hour of sunlight
Will help harvest the corn
And fill the silo for winter,
Who meanders on soft white paws,
Blanketing creation in frosty silence
